The BMAT has now been discontinued. All applicants for undergraduate medicine in the UK will be required to sit the University Clinical Aptitude Test (UCAT) for their application. Check out our wide selection of Free UCAT Guides to get started with your preparation.
Cambridge Assessment Admissions Testing has announced the date changes to some of their Admissions Tests including the BMAT, TMUA, ENGAA and NSAA.
What are the BMAT Date Changes?
The BMAT is now sat on the 18th of October rather than the usual first week of November. The test has also changed to pen and paper.
Breakdown of the BMAT date changes:
Results from the BMAT October 2022 session will be released on 25th November 2022 and you can access them on the Meritests system.
How do the BMAT date changes affect me?
You may be thinking that it doesn’t sound like a big change but actually, it means you have lost 2 weeks of preparation time. This makes preparing earlier absolutely crucial this year.
If you are looking for effective preparation, the BMAT Bundle provides you with structured learning to keep on top of your application. This particularly important in a year where dates have changed.
Countdown To The BMAT October
Depending on when you read this, you will now only have a few months before test day. For most of you, the next few months are not empty. There’s work experience to gain, a personal statement to write and redraft and redraft again, and lastly, the UCAT to sit.
You may feel silly planning so early in advance of October, but setting some goals for when you will work through the BMAT specification, answer countless practice questions and practice essay writing is key to ensuring you stay on top of your application and avoid last-minute stressful revision.
Top applicants will have started working on their BMAT performance early on in the year as doing little and often consistent work will help identify weaker areas in the test. This means you’ll have plenty of time to work through these weaker areas way before test day. Don’t forget to practice using pen and paper too as this has also changed.
What are the BMAT Costs?
The costs have changed too and it appears the BMAT is now more expensive.
If you feel these costs may be an issue, check out the CAAT website for more information on reimbursements.
