- The day will be led by an instructor who is a medical student at Oxford or Cambridge. The course is priced at £129 per student. See our reviews.
- Each student will get a copy of our 200-page A4 course e-book. See samples of our materials.
- We spend the morning going over topics like dealing with unknown material and classic Oxbridge scientific questions. We make sure to get students involved so you learn by doing, not just listening.
- In the afternoon, we’ll cover the mythical curveball interview questions that can crop up in Oxbridge medical interviews such as “What do you like most about the brain?”. We’ll cover calculation and estimation questions which are common in an Oxbridge interview, as well as run through some mock interviews. For the full schedule of the day, click here.
- We’ve been running our crash courses for the last 6 years and have taught over 10,000 students. Check out our Reviews page to see what some of them had to say.
- We also have an MMI Crash Course that takes you through 2 full circuits with detailed feedback.
Our 7-hour Oxbridge Interview Crash Course offers the perfect balance of theory, knowledge and practice to give you the best chance of your place to study at Oxford or Cambridge.
Taking A Scientific Viewpoint
Oxbridge are interested in your scientific knowledge more than any other university. You’ll often be asked difficult science-based questions such as “why can’t you breathe underwater through a 1M reed?”. We prepare you for these types of questions throughout the course with the following sessions:
We’ll cover common Oxbridge medicine interview questions.
Get familiar with science-based interview questions and how to answer them.
How To Approach Your Answers
The second key factor that Oxbridge interviewers assess is how you approach problems. This helps them understand how you think and how you use the knowledge you have available. Ensuring you are able to approach problems in the right way highlights you as a student they’d like to teach. We improve this through several topics:
You’ll learn how to deal with unknown material.
Learn how to answer calculation and estimation questions.
A Fully Interactive Day
Throughout the day, you’ll be asked to join in the discussion and answer Oxbridge interview questions – this isn’t a passive course where you’ll just sit and listen! We’ll actively be getting attendees to participate and have their own input. We’ll be going through your answers and dissecting them as a group – learning how to improve and tweak your answers to be better. We’ll teach you to think like an Oxbridge admissions tutor.
Booking for our 2020 Oxbridge Interview Crash Courses is now open. If you’d like to know more about the course or about us, feel free to browse around this website, and please do contact us if you have any questions. Hope to see you soon!
Here’s a little more information about how the Oxbridge Interview Crash Course will actually run on the day.
Your tutor will introduce themselves and the course to you, along with introducing you to others attending the course.
You’ll often be given source material about an unfamiliar topic, such as an electron micrograph, then be asked questions about it such as “why are the structures shaped the way they are?”
We’ll prepare you for questions like this by teaching you how to work through problems and how to use data to answer questions on a topic you know nothing about.
“Which is better adapted, a chimp or a human?” “What is the difference between Mitosis and Meiosis?” These questions are commonplace in Oxbridge interviews.
We’ll then go through scientific questions you could expect to face and how to answer them – all in classic Oxbridge interview style.
Calculation and estimation questions are difficult when you don’t have a strategy. Questions like “How many grains of sand are there in the world?” and “How many pianos are there in New York?” aren’t uncommon to face.
These are the kinds of question we’ll ensure you are 100% prepared for by the end of this session.
Oxford and Cambridge are notorious for their weird and wonderful questions like “How could you kill someone and get away with it?” and “How is DNA like sheet music?”.
These questions are designed to be tough and to test your problem-solving skills – which is exactly what we’ll teach you in this session!
This is where the real fun begins!
You’ll split into smaller groups and either be given a mock interview or you will critique another student’s responses as an admissions tutor.
Taking a look at this process from both sides of the table is an extremely valuable prospect so we encourage students to engage as much as possible.
This is your chance to ask any burning questions you have leftover at the end of the course!
Sadly, it all has to end somewhere. We aim to finish up by around 17:30.
