Right, let’s talk about BMAT Section 2. Section 2 frequently causes pain and strife for students, and it’s often the section that students email us about afterwards saying it was horrendous. With so much content to cover, we have summarised the BMAT Section 2 syllabus below with links to our guides on each topic of BMAT Section 2.

In Section 2, there are a total of 27 multiple-choice type questions. They will test you on the topics of Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics and the number of questions for each topic is 7 except from Mathematics which has 6 questions. Students have 30 minutes to answer all of the questions which makes the section very time-pressured. Students should practice under timed conditions before taking the BMAT.

Candidates are expected to be familiar with the following SI prefixes:

PREFIX NAME VALUE
Nano- 10-9
Micro- 10-6
Milli- 10-3
Centi- 10-2
Deci- 10-1
Kilo-103
Mega-106
Giga-109

BMAT Section 2: Physics

Physics is probably the most important one to learn, because ~80% of BMAT candidates don’t do physics at A-level. Everyone does Chemistry and most people do Biology, so you’ll find that you’re probably fairly well versed in those subjects anyway. Examinable Physics content is shown below and has been adapted from Cambridge Assessment Admission Testing’s BMAT Content Specification.

If you’re looking for extra support with the BMAT, check out our BMAT Bundle. It includes everything we have to offer students sitting the BMAT and we think it does a pretty great job of it.
